Climate and Communities: Voices from the Frontlines

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York hosted a virtual discussion about how communities facing climate-related risks are mitigating future risk and addressing issues of investment, equity, and green technology. Community development advocates and practitioners on the front lines of climate change shared promising strategies for climate resiliency and adaptation, how to engage with local stakeholders and community members, and critical next steps.

The panel featured stakeholders who shared examples and approaches to climate adaptation and resiliency. Panelists included:

  • Daphany Rose Sanchez, executive director, Kinetic Communities Consulting
  • Caleb Stratton, AICP, PP, CFM, assistant business administrator and chief resiliency officer of the City of Hoboken
  • Kim Waddell, Ph. D., director of Virgin Islands Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research
  • Peggy Shepard, Co-Founder & Executive Director, WE ACT for Environmental Justice
  • Jorge Gaskins, Director of Community Relationships, Barrio Eléctrico

The panel was moderated by Javier Silva, senior associate director in the Community Development unit of the New York Fed.
