The Federal Reserve Bank of New York will issue two reports about Puerto Rico small businesses at 12:00 PM EDT on Thursday, September 27. Both reports draw from the New York Fed’s annual survey of Puerto Rico small businesses, which provides timely information about firms’ performance and financing experiences.
One report, Puerto Rico Small Business Trends: Evidence from the 2018 New York Fed Survey, looks broadly at the small business sector—in terms of how profitability, demand for financing, and credit availability have evolved. The other report, Puerto Rico Small Businesses and the 2017 Hurricanes, provides an in-depth look at hurricanes Maria and Irma’s impacts—in terms of how businesses were affected, how they tried to cover hurricane losses, and how successful they were in doing so.
Together, these reports will help to enrich stakeholders’ understanding of Puerto Rico’s small business sector since the hurricanes last year.
