On Tuesday, March 30, the New York Fed and the AARP will co-host a virtual event titled The State of the 50+ Entrepreneur. This event will bring together thought leaders, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on older business owners and their firms, as well as what might be done to help their recovery. Currently, four out of five small-employer firms have owners over the age of 45.
During this webinar, Claire Kramer Mills, Ph.D., assistant vice president and director, Community Development Analysis at the New York Fed, will present and discuss a new report that examines the state of older business owners and their firms, as well as challenges they have faced historically and amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition, New York Fed president and chief executive officer, John Williams, will participate in a moderated discussion with Nancy LeaMond, executive vice president and chief advocacy and engagement officer at AARP. The discussion, titled The Role Small Business Plays in Building Financial Resilience for the 50+, will be moderated by Nancy Marshall-Genzer, senior reporter at NPR Marketplace.
Lastly, David Erickson, senior vice president and head of Outreach and Education, at the New York Fed, will give brief remarks alongside Jean Setzfand, senior vice president of programs at AARP, on key takeaways from the discussions and the path ahead.
