A video produced by students from Finger Lakes Community College was declared the winner of the Lead the Way: Workforce Development Video Contest. The pilot competition, sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, challenged students from schools in the Greater Rochester Area to produce a 30-second video aimed at increasing awareness about middle-skill occupations that are growing in demand.
In the winning video, “Not Just a Geek,” Finger Lakes Community College students Kevin Johnson, Zach Lyman and Sam McCumiskey highlight career opportunities in the field of computer science.
The winning video will be shown in movie theaters around the Greater Rochester Area and each student will receive a $500 scholarship award from the Rochester Area Community Foundation, as well as other prizes.
