Matthew Higgins is an economic research advisor in International Studies within the Monetary Policy Research Division. He participates in developing the Bank’s forecasts for foreign economic growth and inflation, and in its efforts to monitor and assess evolving foreign economic risks. Prior to rejoining the Bank, Matthew was Senior International Economist at Merrill Lynch, a position he held from 1999 to 2003. Matthew’s first stint at the Bank lasted from 1993 to 1999. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1993, with specializations in international economics and econometrics. Matthew’s research interests include the drivers of global business cycle fluctuations and global capital flows, and demographic factors affecting international capital flows and price levels.
