NEW YORK—The Federal Reserve Bank of New York will host its next economic press briefing on Friday, November 18, at 9:30 a.m. The briefing will focus on findings from the Survey of Consumer Expectations (SCE) related to inflation and labor expectations as well as access to credit. The expectations data collected in the survey provides direct insight into consumers’ financial and economic outlooks and helps to inform monetary policy decisions.
The SCE provides timely and comprehensive information about consumer expectations through three broad categories: inflation, labor market and household finance. The survey contains monthly insight about how consumers expect overall inflation and prices for food, gas, housing, education and medical care may change over time. It also provides Americans’ views about job prospects and earnings growth, as well as their expectations about future spending and access to credit. Expectations are available by age, income, education, numeracy and geography.
President William Dudley will provide opening remarks and will join a panel of New York Fed economists to answer questions after the presentation.
The event will be webcast to registered participants.
