The Community Development team has explored a range of issues over the years. We have gathered some of these programs and initiatives together to make them available to you here. 	Community Development's Fed & Main Newsletter Subscribe to Fed & Main, Community Development's monthly newsletter on upcoming events, works in progress, and innovations in health, climate, and household financial well-being. Read the latest issue and explore previous issues.
	Community Development & Education's Visiting Scholar Program Visiting scholars are selected from the community development and education fields to enrich the New York Fed’s outreach and education programs. Visiting scholars are university faculty, community development practitioners and researchers, think tank representatives, and/or senior leaders from foundations and nonprofit organizations. They are selected to advise and collaborate with New York Fed staff on groundbreaking ideas, analytical products and programs. They present at internal seminars and conduct workshops on community development topics. While they provide staff with new research and updates from the community development and education fields, they also benefit from working and exchanging ideas with staff. Selection is on a rolling basis and placements are short-term.
	Community Development Finance The Community Development Finance Initiative (CoDeFi) supports the transformation of underserved communities in the Second District by working closely with local organizations and helping to increase the impact of community investments. CoDeFi also leverages the Federal Reserve System's role in overseeing financial institutions' compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), which requires banks to lend, invest, and offer services to low- and moderate-income communities in the areas where they operate.
	Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) The New York Fed’s community development team develops resources and convenes community groups and financial institutions about investment opportunities through the Community Reinvestment Act. Our toolkits on the topic focus on CRA investment qualifications and strategies for developing partnerships with CDFIs.
	Covid-19: Information, Research & Analysis and Resources Resources include materials (web pages, blogs, reports, articles, and videos) from the New York Fed, other Federal Reserve Banks, the Federal Reserve System, along with other external organizations.
	Fed Listens The New York Fed hosted four sessions with stakeholders in its district as part of the Federal Reserve System's assessment of its monetary policy strategy, tools, and communication practices.
	Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands The Community Development unit monitors issues on the ground in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands related to the nonprofit and small business ecosystems, economic development economic inequality, and climate resiliency and adaptation.
	Regional Visits The New York Fed president routinely meets with local community and business leaders to gain a deeper understanding of regional economic conditions and inform the policy making process. Engaging directly with various stakeholders also allows the New York Fed president to better identify ways for the New York Fed to support the Second District. Insights gathered from these trips have led the New York Fed to conduct research and launch initiatives on regional credit conditions, access to capital, and workforce development.
	Small Business The New York Fed's efforts center around the Small Business Credit Survey, an annual national survey started by the New York Fed on the financing needs and experiences of small businesses, or firms with fewer than 500 employees. The New York Fed also hosts workshops on accessing capital for small business owners and convenes an advisory council of small business leaders in the Second District to advise the New York Fed on regional conditions.
	Workforce Development Workforce development aims to promote dialogue and a greater understanding of promising policies and programs that allow workers, especially those in low and moderate-income communities, to develop in-demand skills and connect them with employers.
