NEW YORK—Federal Reserve Bank of New York President William C. Dudley will visit New Brunswick, Kearny, and Newark, New Jersey, on November 29 to meet with leaders in business, education, and government.
The day will start with a fireside chat at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, where President Dudley will take part in a moderated discussion about current economic issues. He will then meet with the leaders of New Jersey Community Capital, a community development financial institution (CDFI) that provides financing and investment opportunities with the aim of improving employment and education in low- and moderate-income communities.
From there, President Dudley will head to Kearny Point, a former shipyard that is being remade into business and office space for the 21st century economy, for a tour of the facilities.
The final stop will be Newark, where President Dudley will meet with Mayor Ras J. Baraka and leaders from business, the nonprofit sector, and higher education. He will also meet with the United Way’s ALICE Project Research Advisory Committee, a group that is working to improve the lives of individuals and families who are working but unable to afford basic necessities such as housing, food, child care, health care, and transportation. The day will conclude with a tour of the Port Newark Container Terminal, which is currently undergoing an expansion.
This trip, which serves to inform President Dudley on local issues, is part of the New York Fed’s ongoing effort to assess economic conditions in the Federal Reserve’s Second District.
