New York Fed to Host Public Pitch Event for Investment Connection Program in Puerto Rico on January 27-28

January 16, 2020

NEW YORK—The Federal Reserve Bank of New York will host a public pitch event for its Investment Connection program in San Juan, Puerto Rico on January 27-28.

Launched in September 2019, the New York Fed's Investment Connection program seeks to enhance investments in community development financing by providing nonprofits, development agencies and other local actors an opportunity to engage directly with banks and other potential funders. Applicants submitted funding proposals eligible under the Community Reinvestment Act, which requires banks to lend, invest and offer services to low- and moderate-income communities in the areas in which they operate.

Thirty organizations from across Puerto Rico will participate in the two-day event, where they will have the opportunity to present their funding proposals to potential investors.  The participants are seeking investments between $20,000 and $15 million and their proposals address a range of issues, including housing, renewable energy, health, education and small-business financing. For more information on the participants and their proposals, see here.

The event will also feature brief welcoming remarks from New York Fed President John C. Williams via pre-recorded video.

The two-day event will take place at La Concha Hotel and will be open to members of the public and the press. Members of the public can register to attend here. Members of the press who wish to attend should contact Desmond Lee at desmond.lee@ny.frb.org to RSVP.
