Mihaela Nistor is chief risk officer and head of the Risk Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She is also a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee.
Nistor has over 20 years of experience serving in leadership roles related to data and risk management across the financial services industry. As head of the Risk Group, she is responsible for balancing the Bank’s risk management and governance framework alongside innovation, and overseeing its approach to managing operational, financial, and enterprise risk.
Prior to joining the New York Fed, Nistor was Global Head of Enterprise Risk Management at Bloomberg, where she drove the innovation, governance, and management practices necessary to identify, evaluate, and monitor the company’s risks. Her responsibilities included developing long-term strategies for data protection and governance. Nistor has also held senior compliance and risk leadership roles at HSBC Bank USA and Citigroup.
Nistor holds a master’s degree in international finance and business from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Marymount Manhattan College. She has also completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
