The survey is conducted every three years and is the only comprehensive source of information on activity in the global foreign exchange and derivatives markets.
The FR 3036 consists of a turnover part and a derivatives outstanding part. The turnover part gathers information from market-making dealers on the monthly volume of transactions in the foreign exchange cash market, the foreign exchange derivatives market and the interest rate derivatives market. The derivatives outstanding part requests data on outstanding contracts in the derivatives markets for foreign exchange, interest rates, equities and commodities.
