Economic Forces in American History

July 11, 2006

The Public Information Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Foundation for Teaching Economics (FTE) will co-sponsor a four-day seminar for American History, Economics, and Social Studies teachers. University faculty members will lead discussions highlighting the impact of economics on pivotal historical events. Master teachers will demonstrate interactive teaching strategies that incorporate the actual circumstances of historical periods of study. Instructors will distribute Economic Forces in American History lesson plans that help students learn by reliving history rather than just reading or hearing about it.

Audience
Teachers from schools in the Second Federal Reserve District (New York State, Northern and Central New Jersey - Monmouth County and north, and Fairfield County, Connecticut)

Professional Development Credits
3.0 Quarter or 2.0 Semester professional development credits (available at nominal cost from FTE). Or, two semester hours of graduate credit in education available through University of Nevada, Las Vegas*
