Guest speaker Astrid Dick, economist in the banking studies function in the Research and Statistics Group at the New York Fed, provides an update and analysis of national economic conditions. Her research focuses on a variety of topics related to the study of strategic behavior, competition, and regulation in the banking industry, as well as consumer bankruptcy. Ms. Dick received her PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2002. Prior to joining the New York Fed in 2004, she was an economist at the Federal Reserve Board. From 1995 to 1997, she worked at the Central Bank of Argentina where her research focused on bank efficiency. She has consulted for the Harvard Institute for International Development and the World Bank.
