New York Fed to Release Poll of Small Businesses Impacted by Superstorm Sandy
April 18, 2014

NEW YORK—The Federal Reserve Bank of New York will release information on Monday, April 21 at 10 a.m. about small businesses’ progress with recovery efforts after Superstorm Sandy. Materials will be available for members of the media under embargo at 9 a.m.

As part of our efforts to understand the issues of communities in the region, the New York Fed worked with small businesses in areas affected by Superstorm Sandy to comprehend the storm’s impact and firms' progress with recovery efforts.  The New York Fed polled 950 firms located in FEMA-declared disaster areas in New Jersey, New York City, the Hudson Valley and coastal counties in Connecticut. Firm responses were collected online between October 10, 2013 and December 31, 2013.

Superstorm Sandy-related information was gathered as part of the New York Fed’s Small Business Credit Survey, which asks small businesses in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania about their performance, financing decisions, and credit experiences.
