New York Fed President Williams to Visit Brooklyn on July 11

June 28, 2018

NEW YORK—Federal Reserve Bank of New York President John C. Williams will visit New York City’s borough of Brooklyn on Wednesday, July 11, to meet with leaders in business, community development, education, and government.

The day will begin in Downtown Brooklyn with a roundtable discussion with business leaders, followed by a meeting with Borough President Eric Adams. From there, President Williams will head to Sunset Park to visit Industry City, a waterfront warehouse complex that has been redeveloped for light manufacturing, retail, and office space.

In Crown Heights, President Williams will meet with leaders of Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH)—a six-year program for high school students that leads to an associate’s degree in computer science—along with representatives from IBM, the program’s corporate partner. He will then meet with community development advocates from the borough’s economically challenged neighborhoods at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, the first community development corporation established in the United States.

The day will conclude with a town hall discussion with local stakeholders, where President Williams will have the opportunity to hear from attendees about issues related to the local economy and efforts around community and workforce development.

This trip, which serves to inform President Williams on regional issues, is part of the New York Fed’s ongoing effort to assess economic conditions in the Federal Reserve’s Second District.
