NEW YORKâThe Federal Reserve Bank of New York will release “Flooding Impacts on Household Finances: Insights from Focus Groups in New York City” on May 16, 2024, at 10 AM. The white paper draws from focus groups the New York Fed’s Community Development team conducted in 2023 with 31 New York City residents whose homes have flooded.
The paper examines the impact of flooding on low- and moderate-income residents’ household finances and housing stability. People in the focus groups also shared the financial supports that would have assisted them following a flood.
The white paper was developed as part of the New York Fed's Community Development efforts, which have three areas of focus: health, household financial well-being, and climate risk.
