Press Release
Public Invited to Vote in New York Fed's Financial Awareness Video Festival
January 14, 2013

The New York Fed announced today that for the first time, voting for the Financial Awareness Video Festival is open to the public.  Everyone is invited to visit the event co-sponsor’s website, the New York Bankers Association, to view and vote on more than 40 videos about how to build good credit. The 30-second long spots were submitted by local college and university students.

Voting will end on February 12, with final judging by a celebrity panel taking place a day later at the New York Fed. Among other prizes, the winning video will be screened in New York City cinemas. An announcement with more details will be released in the coming weeks.

About the New York Fed’s Financial Awareness Video Festival
The New York Fed is running two concurrent competitions: one in New York State and northern New Jersey, and one in Puerto Rico.  In each region, local college and university students are challenged to create a 30-second video—aimed at young adults—about how to build good credit. By combining peer-to-peer learning with the creativity of video production, the festivals seek to advance financial literacy among young adults. The Financial Awareness Video Festival is sponsored by the New York Fed's Regional and Community Outreach team.
